Daryl Cura : Founder / Mentor

Artist and entrepreneur, Daryl Cura, began DJing at the young age of 13 while immersed in Chicago’s brewing underground rave / loft party scene in the early 90s. By the middle of the decade, he had already begun to spin alongside some of the city’s best DJs like Derrick Carter, Diz, Mystic Bill, Glenn Underground, Cajmere, etc. In 2001, he toured Europe in support of his Dirty Criminal project on DJ Hell’s Gigolo Records and performed his first live PA at the 2004 Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

Having released original material, remixes and several uncredited edit records on various labels, Daryl’s main outlet has been on his imprint Eargasmic Recordings. This is where he and his colleagues experiment and explore new territories in their music.

Jamal Moss : Disquisition Coordinator / Mentor

Jamal Moss has built a sterling reputation both as a producer and live performer of deep, mesmeric experimental electronics and free jazz rooted in his native Chicago and his relationship with the city’s fertile underground club scene. Inspired by the likes of Ron Trent, DJ Rush (both residents at The Reactor where he danced week in week out) and Ron Hardy, Moss was mentored by visionary producers Steve Poindexter and Adonis, who showed him the drum machines that were the backbone of the Movement and whom encouraged his early forays into music production.

Releasing prolifically on his own Mathematics Recordings imprint and a clutch of other imprints including RVNG Intl. and Soul Jazz / SOTU; collaborating with Marshall Allen of Sun Ra’s Arkestra and many other notable figures – Moss has undoubtedly cemented his stature as a unique creative force.

Tim Nickless : Electronic Music Production / DJ Mentor

Tim Nickless, aka Tim Nice, has been involved with Chicago’s underground music scene since the mid 90’s and also holds a degree in Audio Design and Production from Columbia College Chicago. He’s an experienced studio and live sound engineer, producer, DJ and has been a radio host of a weekly radio show at Northwestern University’s radio station WNUR 89.3 FM, for over 5 years. As a DJ and producer, Tim is known for playing and creating extremely diverse styles with depth and has played at countless notable venues and parties throughout Chicago and the US.

Chris Quinn : DJ Mentor

Like many raised in the Chicagoland area, Chris Quinn was engulfed in dance music in the late 80s and early 90s with frequent visits to the infamous Imports Etc record store and dancing at basement parties where Spencer Kinsey, Mark Farina, and Derrick Carter got their start. By the middle of the decade, Quinn hit the loft party scene while working at Cargo Records and the historic Gramaphone Records store. After organizing and spinning many of the legendary 1355 N Milwaukee loft parties in the 90s (arguably considered the golden age of House music), Quinn has continually DJ’d throughout the years here in Chicago and has also held residencies in Berlin Germany and abroad.
