Intro to Electronic Music Production

If you’re completely fresh to music production, this is the course for you!
No prior experience or knowledge required.

Here is a perfect introduction to electronic music making created for absolute beginners looking to explore their creativity in music. This will provide the basics of music production and a comprehensive overview in the functionality of the Ableton Live software and the Ableton Push MIDI controller.

By the end of the course, students will have knowledge of basic music theories, the know-how to make beats and completing songs ready for mixing and mastering.

  • Sampling
  • Arrangements and Mixing
  • Basic Synthesis
  • Audio Effects
  • Plug-Ins

 

Students will be using the Ableton Live Suite Software on iMac computers along with Ableton Push 2 MIDI controllers.

This course meets for 2 hours once a week for 4 weeks.
8 curriculum hours total.

Enrollment will also include access to ‘open studio’ time in the CP Beat Lab for 8 weeks.

*Students are more than welcome to use their own laptops during the course if desired. If you do not own Ableton Live, you can download the free, fully featured Ableton Live Trial. The trial version will allow you to save and export your work for 30 days. If you use the trial version, do not download it until the course is scheduled to begin.
